Ploughing Match Clean Sweep for
Plumpton College at Netherfield

An unimaginably beautiful Autumn day set the scene for the 43rd East Sussex Ploughing Match at Church Farm Guestling on Saturday 27th September

ploughing
Situated just a few moments off the busy A259 the incredible swathe of East Sussex countryside which acted as a backdrop for this annual event was bathed in sunshine. Ploughs lined up to plough a straight furrow over the undulating and hidden contours of the stubble fields, no GPS allowed here for navigation to a distant red and white pole.
The Domestic Section attracted a wide variety of entries, much care and thought went into the presentation of each exhibit. Amongst these entrants were representatives from Plumpton College at Netherfield, each had worked long and hard with students of all abilities to produce the best cake, trug of harvest produce etc.
An anxious half an hour of nail biting followed for competitors whilst the judging took place.
vegetables

A euphoric “yiphee” resounded on going back into the marquee to see a swathe of red (first place) cards on the numerous exhibits from Plumpton.
